This month I wanted to focus on families. As I write this I am spending a few days with mine. I don’t have any children although I would argue that my brothers and sister have been mine. My father died when I was twelve years old. This left my mother who was very young and knew little English and had little to no skills or education to fend for us.
Michelle McKinney Hammond’s article last month drew quite a stir within some of our single sisters in Christ. Some of you had comments and we posted them below.
All I can say about what I read is 'Wow!' I'm sure many of the single women do not agree with her comments about the shortage of men and everyone will not get married.

Going Through the Process by Pastor Yolanda Presley
The will of God is that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. God desires for us to live a successful and prosperous life, with nothing lacking and nothing missing. We sometimes miss it because we get stuck in our process. We fail to realize that between the promises and the manifestation of God’s promises is a dash. The dash represents the process. Many never see the promises because they are unwilling to go through the process.
Maintaining Healthy Relationships With Our Children
By Marie Depree
If there is one area today where we are having major challenges, it’s in our relationship with our children. Whether they are school age, teens, or young adults, stress, friction and— in some cases—rebellion exists within the confines of the relationship.
Though it was more than two decades ago, I remember it as though it was just yesterday. I was sitting in church in Jacksonville, Florida when the choir began to sing an unfamiliar song. Little did I know that the course of my life would be forever changed by those words: “It takes faith to step out on nothing and believe that something is there.”
Early in life, I learned the virtue of faith. And through my now deceased uncle – whose faith transformed a ministry of a handful of members to more than 2,000 - my faith was cultivated even more.
Traditionally, Bible quiz competitions are for schoolchildren, well-versed in the skills of memorization and recitation. But knowledge of the Bible can also be a lifelong learning process, to which many adult Sunday school students can attest. The Evansville (Ind.) Courier put together its own version of a Bible quiz, using material from both the Old and New Testaments. (Answers at bottom.)

Children, infants to adults, need to be covered with prayer on an ongoing basis. Drugs, sex, alcohol abuse, new age spiritualism, gay lifestyles, peer pressure, shyness and the perennial "God isn't real to me!"—all are just a few of the conspirators in the battle for children's minds and hearts. For adult children, add financial problems, divorce, anger, job loss, stress, health and a host of other problems that sometimes widens the gulf between them and their Creator.
These tasty, low fat burgers use extra-lean ground beef combined with mashed black beans to reduce fat content and make moist, flavorful patties. The jalapeno pepper, cumin and cilantro add a nice little kick. Use a hotter chile pepper if you prefer, or omit it altogether if you want a more subtle flavor. Serve burgers on a whole grain or sourdough bun with plenty of low fat condiments. Fresh salsa and low fat sour cream work perfectly.
Every little girl has dreams of being rescued by her hero, of being swept away into a great adventure, of being the beautiful princess. Sadly, when women grow up, they are taught to be tough, efficient, and independent. Many Christian women are tired, struggling under the weight of the pressure to be a "good servant," a nurturing caregiver, passionate lover, or capable home manager. What Wild at Heart did for men, this book can do for women.
"Bring up a child in the way he should go, and go that way yourself."

SINGLE?
Don't allow Satan to sidetrack God's plan. God initiated family life. Satan will do anything he can to interfere with godly marriages and to sabotage relationships of righteous people. Therefore, pray boldly for whatever interference that keeps you from meeting or uniting with your husband. Know that the Lord will fulfill His purpose for you!
A Little Humor
A 100 dollar bill, a 20 dollar bill, and a one dollar bill meet up at the shredder at the end of their lives. The 100 says, "I've seen the whole world during my lifetime. Why, I've been on cruises in Caribbean, safaris in Africa, and vacations in Europe." The 20 says, "Well, I've not done quite as well, but I have been to Atlantic City, Disneyland, and Starbucks." They both turn to the one dollar bill and ask, "How about you?" The one, not wanting to be outdone, says, "I've seen the whole country as well. I've been from church to church to church..."
